Graduating During a Pandemic
What a struggle senior year has been! When you are a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) Acting or BFA Musical Theatre major, the challenges are even more extreme. The entire program is based off of live performances. And live theatre has been placed on hold for most of the last year. But great news…the UWF senior theatre majors will perform for UWF students this spring. You can find out more about the current season here. Hopefully there will be an opportunity for the general public to purchase live stream tickets. Also, mark your calendars for the “Senior Showcase” which will be performed at an outdoor venue in downtown Pensacola on May 7th.
UWF Senior Theatre Majors
This is the 3rd year that I’ve been fortunate enough to photograph the theatre seniors. They hold a dear place in my heart because my daughter was a part of the UWF theatre program. I was thrilled when I was contacted about capturing the current seniors. And I’m even more excited that the show will go on and they will get to share what they have learned over the course of their BFA programs during their senior showcase.
Stepping Out Into the World
The UWF senior theatre majors that I have worked with have always been such a tight knit bunch. They spend many, many hours in classes and rehearsals together. Many of their classes require a vulnerability that most college classes do not. This allows for the amazing camaraderie they have with one another. I love hearing the side conversations and inside jokes as they banter with each other in between poses during our photo shoots. The seniors are always so much FUN! I hope they realize how amazing it is to create art with one another and that they remain lifelong friends as they find their places in the world.
