Beach Family Photos – What To Wear
Are you wondering what to wear for Pensacola Beach family pictures? First, start by thinking about the colors in your house. If you plan to print photos to display, you want them to coordinate with your decor. What colors do you like? What colors are you naturally drawn to? Start there.
Pensacola Beach Family Pictures Outfits
Select mom’s outfit first. When selecting an outfit to wear for your beach family photo session, pick an outfit that you love on yourself. It should fit well and not bunch up or feel uncomfortable. Then coordinate with everyone else once you are happy with your outfit. Limit the plaids, florals, stripes, etc. One or two prints are okay, but solids look best. For beach photography sessions avoid black and bright red. Think about the colors of the sunset. Two to four coordinating colors with a khaki, gray, white, or denim neutral usually look great. Layers and/or accessories always make everything look pulled together. Pops of color are also good for family photo outfits.
Family Photo Outfit Ideas- Style and Select
Because most clients like having family photo outfit ideas, after clients book with me I send a link to “Style and Select” where they can look through different options for coordinating outfits according to their style. Clients can purchase through Style and Select or they can use the ideas to find things already in their closets. I also share a Pinterest board with suggestions for family photo outfit ideas.
You should look like YOU
Most importantly, make sure that whatever you choose to wear is something that you would normally wear. Make sure that your clothing fits. Stay away from graphics that can become dated quickly and neon colors that create color casts on faces. These suggestions will help you love your beach family photos.
Beach Photo Session Reminders
If you are using the beach as the backdrop for your photography session, here are a few reminders. It is often windy at the beach. If you or anyone in your family has long hair consider wearing it pulled back. It’s a good idea to bring hair ties in case the wind is too much for your hairstyle. We will work with the wind direction when possible but sometimes we have to go with lighting over wind direction. Windy beach images are beautiful though. If you choose beach family photos, be prepared to embrace nature. The wind adds movement and makes for beautiful photos.
I rarely photograph families on the beach wearing shoes. Plan to kick off your shoes when we hit the sand. The good news is that shoes are one thing you can take off the prep list when planning your family beach photo outfits.
Bring a towel. Chances are you or your children will end up ankle-deep in the waves by the end of the session. It’s helpful to have something to dry off with even if you leave it in the car.
Remember to remove anything bulky from your pockets. You won’t need a purse or phone while you’re at the photo session and they will add stress trying to remember to move them out of sight or find a place to place them during the session.
