Pensacola Beach Vacation Ideas

  1. Watch the sunrise. I think everyone should have the goal of watching at least one sunrise a year.
  2. Take a long walk down the beach. A favorite route of mine is to walk around the point at Ft. Pickens where you can see the Intracoastal waterway, Pensacola Pass and the Gulf of Mexico as you walk about 2 miles along the shore.
  3. Hunt for seashells. Make sure you have something to collect the shells in. I use this colorful mesh seashell bag. Here’s a great resource for seashell identification.
  4. Eat at one of the delicious restaurants on Pensacola Beach. Flounders and Peg Leg Pete’s are favorites. If you like fried mushrooms or Monte Cristo sandwiches, be sure to try Sidelines Sports Bar and Restaurant. There is often a long wait during summer months but Peg Leg Pete’s and Flounders have sandy playgrounds for the kids to run around and play while waiting. Native Cafe is an excellent breakfast/lunch option.
  5. Take a walk on the Pensacola Beach Fishing Pier. Whether you want to rent fishing gear, observe the sea life and sunset from a better view or grab a bite to eat, Pensacola Beach Gulf Pier has you covered. See their site for pricing details.
  6. Glow Paddle offers family friendly, evening kayaking and SUP experiences with clear bottom boats and waterproof lights.
  7. If you need a break from the sun and sand, check out the Pensacola Beach Boardwalk with various shops and restaurants.
  8. The UFO House is definitely something interesting to see.
  9. Visit Fort Pickens. There is an entrance fee for this National Park but it’s really interesting to learn the history of Pensacola at this site.
  10. Ride the free Pensacola Beach Trolley This is a fun way to get around the island. I try to ride the loop on this open air trolley at least once every summer.
  11. BONUS TIP: Book a family photo session to document your trip and create lasting memories!
